Overview

A neuropsychological assessment goes further than a cognitive one. It profiles each domain of your child’s thinking in detail, and how those domains work together, to build the fullest possible understanding of their mind.

This depth is most valuable when the picture is complex: where several things may be happening at once, or where a finely-tuned plan is needed to help a child function to their absolute capacity.

What we profile
  • Attention & executive functionFocus, regulation, planning and flexible thinking.
  • Memory & learningEncoding, retaining and retrieving information.
  • Processing speedThe pace and efficiency of cognitive work.
  • Visual & verbal functioningLanguage, perception and the systems that underpin learning.
What it can identify

A neuropsychological assessment is used to formulate a tailored intervention plan, and can clarify diagnoses that are difficult to disentangle through narrower assessment.

Part of the whole

A neuropsychological assessment already weaves several areas of functioning into one comprehensive profile. It still forms part of the single, holistic assessment that Dr Murray designs around your child, shaped by what they need rather than offered as a service in isolation.

How a Known assessment works

What’s involved

Every child is different, so each assessment is shaped around them. In broad strokes: questionnaires completed by parents and teachers, a clinical interview with parents of around one to two hours, and direct assessment with your child of around two to three hours. Findings are drawn together into a written report with background, results, and practical strategies for home and school.

An assessment may explore more than one area

These aren’t separate services to book. Dr Murray draws on them together, in one assessment, as your child needs.
