Overview

A child behaves differently across the settings of their life, and the classroom is one of the most important. Much of what shapes a child’s day happens at school, so that is where understanding needs to reach. It’s a step many clinics never take; for Dr Murray, it’s often where the real difference is made.

School support runs in two directions. As part of an assessment, it helps complete the picture. As a follow-up, it helps the school put that picture to work.

As part of an assessment
  • Classroom observationSeeing how your child engages, learns and relates in their everyday environment.
  • Input from school staffGathering perspective from teachers and learning support officers who know your child well.
As a follow-up
  • Educating the teamHelping teachers understand how your child’s mind works, and why.
  • Practical classroom changesSpecific environmental adjustments to suit your child’s learning and development.
  • A shared planAligning home and school around the same understanding and the same goals.

Availability

School support is offered to families we have assessed, where it’s the right fit.

School visits take Dr Murray out of the rooms and into classrooms, so they’re necessarily limited and can’t be promised to everyone. Where it’s valuable for your child, we’ll raise it as part of, or following, their assessment.

It starts with an assessment.

School support grows out of understanding your child. Tell us a little about them, and we’ll begin there.
